HAMBURG
Photography and Text by Maximilian Gerdau
Given that Hamburg lies not far from Denmark, the North Sea and a couple of surf spots in the Baltic, the city probably shelters more eager, landlocked surfers than any other place in this country. While skateboarding seems to be a brilliant pastime these days, long-established anti-skate-politics had put Hamburg off the skate map for some year – luckily this is changing.
Yet, even after two years with wheels beneath our feet we are still being asked where to find other surfskaters and the best concrete conditions – well truth is we are still searching ourselves for more and better spots.
So when would be a better time to create a surfskate and skatepark atlas for Hamburg if not now? Below you can find our first choices as of now. Feel free to send us your comments throuh the form at the bottom of this page. We'd be more than happy about any suggestion, whether it is a missing spot in the atlas or you being totally unhappy with a one of our ratings.
