The Future is Bright
MAWI & BERAWA
With the shape we have left nothing to chance. Like a classic „Retro Fish“ our decks are true hybrids. A wide nose with an extra leverage on the front truck combined with that solid 18.5" wheelbase result in a super mellow ride, easy to gain top speed, yet highly reactive board to surprise with aggressive maneuvers. This deck was made to cruise around town in true retro style.
The concave and extra grippy clear grip lock your feet and stance on the nose of the board while that narrow tail allows your toes and heels to clamp into the rails like they would into the tracktion pad of your surfboard. A little more kicker on the tail helps to pop the board of the ground.

SUSTAINABLE PRODUCTION & MATERIALS
MATERIALS & FINISHING
Instead of the standard seven layers of Canadian maple all of our surfskate decks are built from six layers of regional timbers – this construction reduces the amount of resins needed. The result is a sustainable, lightweight but very robust surfskate deck with extra longevity and just the right amount of flex.
To protect the timber and graphics, our boards are coated with a special resin which is usually used in the production of kiteboards — you can literally ride our surskates in the water if you wanted to. The clear grip not only offers an unhindered view onto the veneer but also securely locks your feet on the board.
We are particulary proud of our printing process as we are producing our decks without the use of heat transfer foils- and machines. To reduce plastic waste, energy consumption and additional transportation we are printing our graphics with LED UV technology directly onto the veneer before the boards are pressed.
This process is a world first in the serial production of skateboard decks and only made possible by our board builders and a state of the art print facility that is leading in print productions for the German automobile and shipping industry. The print park is powered by 600 sqm of solar panels and can finish our decks while producing zero carbon emissions.
The core construction, finishing, veneer and timbers are a unique example of fine craftsmanship and a truely eco-friendly product.
All decks are handcrafted with heart and soul by watermen and skateboard enthusiasts in a regional woodshop on the coast of northern Germany. With a family background of boat construction our board builders have 1o years experience in the production of skate-, kite- and surfboards.
While we believe in handcraft and manual precision work even our board builders sometimes leave it to automation if this can improve the result of their work.
For optimum precision the outline of our decks is cut by a computer-controlled CNC milling machine. During the milling our boards are secured by a vacuum suction system instead of coventional clamps to avoid damages to the veneer and print.
By producing our shortboards with local timber, for example beech and ash, the decks do not only have an exceptionally high quality but we avoid additional transportation and can reduce our carbon footprint.
The Forest Steward Council certificate focusses on forest mangement and chain of custody. All of our surfskates are produced out of FSC® certified timbers from well-managed-forests and/or recycled sources.
We are happy that the sourcing of materials, the production and also the fullfilment of our surfskate decks can all take place in northern Germany.
Not only do we support local businesses by keeping things regional but we also reduce our carbon foot print by avoiding unnessecary transportation.
It is harder than one might think to create and sell products without leaving a foot print on our eco-system — we are just at the beginning. To drive change with every product sold in our shop we decided to fund selected organisations who are changing the future of conserving nature.
This year we have decided to donate 1% revenue (about 10% of our profit) to the 50 Reefs Initiative. 50 Reefs is helping to identify and preserve coral reefs which have a chance of surviving global warming.
